wah kaoz.. half the year gone just like that. can say that this year has been more or less all about work. we've been so buried in our new jobs. its been super mentally and physically taxing. and on some days, emotionally too. but, we've managed to take breaks in between. we did hochiminh and gili islands (finally!!) Ngoi even managed to get a work trip to Paris and even conjuring up a trip to Budapest end of the year.
bet all of us are trying to keep our sanity in this shit hole. livin' here in lioncity is like living in a matrix. the gahmen controls everything. the way u talk, what you eat, what u do, where and how u live and how much u earn. its not how much your company can pay u. its how much the gahmen wants your company to pay u. how much u earn controls what u spend. and what you spend substantially defines who u r. a system that restricts who u can be. a conspiracy theory? maybe? but just indulge me a little and i'm sure u can find some form of truth in it. maybe its just us or maybe its just me. on a good day i'd be contented to live in this controlled environment. but on a shitty day everything just sux. cut us some slack can? maybe its bold for me to say this but theres gonna be a major back lash sooner or later. general unhappiness amongst those who truly call this matrix their home. statistics dun lie. the majority wants out. gold diggers have made this place a stepping stone. i dun blame them. aren't we all tryin to survive? tryin our best not to end up at the bottom of the food chain and we end up losing our compassion and consideration towards others. gracious society my ass. the next 5 years will open our eyes. we're not blinded anymore but your cheap carrots. if theres a deal goin on up there then we want in!

and to you optimists out there... whatever happens...you'll always find a reason to go on.

I was being paranoid.. according to Sanglay. I guessed I did burn bridges and build walls. It's not as welcoming as compared to the previous theme parks. But like any other roller coaster rides, I think I am getting the hang of it. Just stick to basic beliefs.. without them I truly would be nobody, wont we all? We all have something to hold on to. In the end, its not about the brains, wealth or power.. Its about heart. Its a different playing field now, the stakes are higher and there is so much to lose. Have I been too ignorant or just shielded from all the bullshit when I was enjoying my stay in wonderland. The moon stared me in the face last night telling me that nothing last forever and when I came back to the same spot, the moon was gone. Gone all the Gung-ho days of putting fist ahead of rational contentions or is it? It would be ahelluva lot easier won't it? But doubt you can escape from the clown this time around if you get yourself in the shit hole..

nvm.. for now will just burn bridges, build walls and kiss ass...

Will let myself out now and then to test the waters.. all in good time... all in good time.....

Can't remember the last time I blogged,

Partly attributed to my recent too-happening-to-talk-about career, sheer laziness and lack of inspiration.

But I guess the new year deserves a post.

2010 has been a challenging year,

What with changing jobs, being broke thus depressed, inability to travel thus depressed etc.

But no doubt it was a very humbling experience and I'm sort of glad I went through it.

And of course I do want to acknowledge all the good stuff that happened to me in 2010:

1) Having built our very first beautiful home from scratch

2) Visited HK for the very first time (one and only trip for 2010)

3) Made new friends (that matter) during my stint at Harbourfront & Novena

4) Received the support of family & friends when I needed it most, including on the financial front from Yea (come to think of it, it's nice to be receiving allowance - feels as though I'm a student all over again)

5) Clinched the championship for Winter Touch League

6) Secured a job with an organisation that I've always wanted to work for

7) Completed my 2nd marathon some 30mins faster than my first

8) Mama Sue well on the road to recovery

9) Realising that I'm going to be an aunt (extended family not included since I'm already a grandma in this regard)

10) Having my wanderlust bestie back yet again for the holiday season

So how did I spend the last day of 2010?

In the usual understated manner of course.

Come to think of it,

In our 6 years together, think Yea and I have only spent 1 or 2 NYE together.

Maybe next year we should elope and spend it some place far, far away.

But let me get through 2011 first.

Hope you had an awesome 2010,

A lot has happen the past couple of months.. some bad some good.. but I believe whatever it is, there's always a good reason why it happened.

There's a time to voice out your opinion and there's a time to just keep it within you.. Transcend.

I have learnt to transcend throughout my life but always cracked eventually. But life is a learning journey and God will only allow you to endure so much before He allows someone to save you or even be the scapegoat for you.. Sad to say that yes, it may be your time now to feel the heat.. a day? a week? months or possibly years..We are mere mortals unable to see the ultimate divine reason of why it is so..So just be contented and learn to accept and be open about everything in moderation..

I have more or less let tumblr do the talking.. more often then not, pictures say a thousand words.. and sometimes a simple quote can sway the decisions of complex men..

The times ahead are unpredictable. Its best to just take one day at a time.

To get rid of the stigma.

To be humble..

To try to want nothing which i think will be quite a feat.. ha ha ha..

Its been a rough year so far. But definitely equipped us with the essential and invaluable lessons that will give us the upper hand next year.

I was quite the mild rebel in my teenage years I would say.

Never abiding by the school rules, always wanting to experiment things which I was too young for, almost never meeting my curfews etc.

But I'd like to think it was all in the good name of "following your heart".

I don't like to worry unnecessarily; I don't like to wonder "what if"; I take risks.

And I always end up learning the hard way. But hey I learn good.

And as I stumble yet again in this continuous learning journey called life, I thank God that family is still there, ever ready to catch me.

I don't need the world to get me, but what matters is these few people do.

When did August creep in? Yikes...

Well today Singapore celebrated its 45th birthday in her usual fashion.. blowing up billions of taxpayer's money into the sky but hey, I'm not complaining..

we'll just dig into the reserves on a rainy day.. or possibly from the petty cashbox or something.. But to catch that brilliant man LKY weeping every national day is priceless.

Don't get me wrong.. i think he is a genius. He deserves it..

Live the dream fly our flag.. hmmm.. who came up with that anyway..

I'm sure the old folks would say that today isn't exactly the day Singapore gained independence.. More like a divorce anniversary when we split up with our northern counterparts. And of course some of us would like to debate with them and so forth.. I wouldn't bother.

I personally think the old folks did more nation building than anyone of my generation.

They did it with the blood and sweat. My dear senior citizens of Singapore, the floor is yours..

And to think most of them are spending the remaining golden years in an old folks home..tsk tsk.. Sad sad..

The realistic world aside, I must say that it's been quite the entertaining parade.

I am a sucker when it comes to parades. The whole idea of displaying patriotism through synchronized marching in perfect formed files and a display of force multipliers.. Makes me want to die for my country.. ha ha ha.. I mean seriously.. I would die for my country. If country defines my family and friends.. I'd take a bullet for you anytime.

Very contrasting views coming from a Reservist platoon commander who would actually ask his men to pack a set of civilian clothings in our field packs just in case we go to war..

Which reminds me, I think I need to exclude that last order the next in camp.

Sorry we haven't been updating much on our blog.. the camera is on loan and life has been sucky so there isn't really much to share. Plus the fact that I am working office hours now, I am no lesser a robot like you guys.. I HATE office hours!!

I'll try my best to update and I am definitely not speaking on behalf of Ngoi.. I am sure you guys know the ratio of "yeazid to Ngoi" blog entries. She will blog most prolly next year.

So to Ngoi fans.. i suggest you find a better blog to read.

I have come to believe that the sounds of the horn is merely a tactic to distract non African teams.

Just watching the game makes me go bonkers. What more if you're on the field with 'Surround' sound.

I guess being professionals on the pitch, they are trained to shut out completely any unwanted audio, visual distractions or anything that are not football related for that matter.

Whatever it is I'm sure it is driving everyone nuts. Fugg. Period.

Anyhoos.. This is the 3rd week at our new working environment. Struggling of course, bombarded by a whole new set of vocabularies, acronyms and abbreviations.

A whole new chemical or business lingo.

And when the HR/Finance manager was explaining the perks.. I could see huge bubbles form above my new colleagues heads (Including mine) with dollar signs and calculators in them. But all that next year lah of course..Hopefully.. God Willing...

On the downside this year :

We are broke trying to recoup losses compounded since Dec 09.

Very humbled.. ha ha.. But enjoying the welfare from everyone.

Nonetheless we are happy and healthy minus the bloody flu thats been lingering since last week Friday. Bloody airborne viruses..damn you!!

We're very elated and thankful to everyone who visited and are still visiting our blog.

It keeps us going.

We'll try to keep it alive.

Just a heads up, we're travelling up to HK end of May and we're kinda excited.

We usually visit resorts and beaches so we decided to go urban this time.

I was prolly 6 or 7 years old the last time i was there.

Ha ha.. yes.. a bit of a drippy nolstagic trip for me.

I can only imagine how Ocean Park has changed since then..

It's a change. Change is good....

We're are also relishing the fact that we managed to squeeze out some moolah from our extremely tight budgets for this trip.

I guess we deserve the break especially since we both are going to start new jobs in June.

It's even more irreverent that we are going to start our job on the same day and same building. What are the odds..

The thing about having a husband who is so darn free because he's on a one-month break,

Not to mention how he is is so into new media & social networking (very much like my 1989-and-beyond baby siblings),
Is that he bugs you to do things that you simply can NOT be bothered to do like blog and upload photos on FB!

So yes, this is my obligatory birthday post simply because Yea says (may I add waaay too many times) "the pictures are already in there and all you need to do is type a few words, babe".
So here goes.

The birthday celebration this year was low-key.
It started from the evening before I turned 27 (yes big deal, age is just a number).
Yea brought me to Swiss Butchery at Coronation Plaza.
In a few quick words, it was a nice, chillout corner - no fuss, just good meats.
8 points to yea for making the effort to decide where to eat for a change..haha

And then we met Farah & Ihzat for dessert at Miss Clarity.
Let's come back to try the creme brulee ok?

I woke up bright and early on the 23rd,
Managed to go secret shopping, cut my hair etc.
& proceeded to have dinner & drinks after with the family.
Thank you my darling siblings for spending the day with me - the present was a bonus!

The other bonus has got to be my new job.

Is this how life's supposed to be?

After a very long and nasty day at work yesterday,
I asked Yea on our drive home:
"Is this how life's supposed to be?"
I mean, does everyone wake up not wanting to go to work on most days?
Does work suck for most people, well, at least on most days?
And Yea, being the usual straightforward person that he is answered simply: "Yes."

But the good thing is, I think I've learnt how to handle it.
I'm sure it's not solely, but largely from Yea.
Many who know me would remember the days where I used to overthink, over-analyse, over-control (if there's even such a word), and over-everything things.
But Yea's take-things-easy attitude kinda rubbed off on me in a good way.
I actually don't mind taking a step back on things these days,
And I think it's doing me good.

But as paradoxical as it sounds,
It's never good when you have to drag yourself out of bed every morning.
Time for some switcharound of sorts I guess?

Anyhow, Yea took this series of photos using his i-phone,
When we were having one of those usual conversations at home where I sit and eat while complaining about my day,
And he sits and plays with his i-phone.
Yes, among Yea's superb set of skills is his ability to practise "selective listening".
Ok enough ranting, this is me after work - exhausted with hair dishevelled and ready to shoot anyone in the head, eating my dinner/supper/whatever you call a meal after 10pm.

Hello, Yea and I are laptop-communicating now at our dining area.
Actually I'm supposed to be doing research for work & Yea is well, just doing the normal random things that he typically does on his lappie.

Just a few minutes ago, we had a random convo that went something like this:
N: Babe, let's play a game [takes out pen and post-it pads]
N: Let's write down what we miss doing [while writing "what we miss doing" on post-it pad]
Y [saying out loud]: I miss going to school. Why don't you just blog? You haven't blogged in so long pemalas siak.
N: Klah klah I blog lah [logs in to blogger and starts typing]
Y: I miss hot chicks and all my hot girlfrens [while peeking into my lappie]
N [covering my lappie]: Jgn kepo aaaaah!

Ok kudos to me for a successful blogpost after so long.

Maan I'm bored. We so need a holiday..

Ok back to the primary objective of this blog entry.

Things I miss doing:

1) Intensive touch training sessions
2) Going on spontaneous trips
3) BKK and Bali trips sometime in 03 or 04 with Farah, Ihzat, Lyana, Ish etc. etc.
4) Not having to slog at work
5) Not having to pay bills & study loans
6) Being young and naive
[interruption: Yea asks, "pujok dalam bahse inglish ape?" & I say, "comfort, pacify".
7) Actually enjoying waking up in the morning
[interruption: Yea tries to steal a peek at what I'm typing and I cover my screen]
8) Not having to work
9) Not having to work
10) Corny times with JASLAF at TP
11) Hanging out with Leona Oh Oh Kou Kou when we were around 18-21
12) Having colleagues like those I had at FA
13) Playing with my sibs when they were still babies

Ok enough rambling. Back to research.

Night shifts are beginning to kill me with the increase in production output and that makes me a road hazard during the morning drives home.

By the time I'm done with work I find little or no energy at all even after 6-8hours of sleep.

Sometimes I wonder why we even have to sleep at all.

Wouldn't it better if human beings need only 60-120 mins of sleep a day? Imagine all the things that you can do and accomplish with all that extra time.

Instead of sleeping is it possible to just nap?

My colleague Anton said the idea of not having to sleep is weird or maybe we're already genetically designed to sleep so naturally we might be apprehensive towards the hypothesis of not sleeping or having little sleep.

Either that or you just truly enjoy sleeping. Don't get me wrong.. i enjoy sleeping but i feel we can do less with it.

Hmm.. maybe sleep should only be compulsory after sex. Will that comfort you a little?

Making sleep and sex an exclusive combo does sound appealing to me. Ha ha.

I mean it does make sense when the facts says that the normal human effectively sleeps like an hour or two during the 7-8 hour so called slumber.

Well there's this Buckminster dude who tried to introduce intermittent napping called polyphasic sleep.

Basically forcing yourself to take 30 mins naps every 6 hours over a period of 30 days and ultimately hard wiring your brain to believe that 2 hours of sleep is all you need.

But somehow I think it might just shorten your life span.

Sigh.. So many things to do so little time.

I have finally decided to leave.. its harder this time because it doesn't involve having a "juvenile" for a boss. In a short period of time, the people have welcomed and accepted me into an already dexterous circle of trust and comfort where alliances and bonds have already been formed. For a newbie to step in and in a way interrupt their flow, I think it takes a lot of effort to open up and let you into that circle and I appreciate it.

This time around it was more about dollars and sense than just dollars and cents, possibly a stepping stone to more windows of opportunities in future. I was lucky enough to get into the junky industry during a time where recession was at its most unforgiving. At a time where people were losing jobs, I managed to switch from a company that comes from a country known for faulty clutch pedals and escape into a company that helps the male species achieve a "boner".

Another window has finally opened but with regret and great reluctance, I tendered my resignation couple days ago leaving me in a state of ambiguity about what lies ahead.

Having heard about the rigorous culture that is practiced there, I fear that I might not adapt as well as I have in the current job. Facing the fact that I have to start from scratch again, build pillars of trust with new colleagues and most importantly impressing the new supervisor.

Even though the new job will offer me an substantial increase in moolah, I can't help but to wither and frown upon the fact that I have to leave a bunch of fun people yet again..saying goodbye is such sweet sorrow compared to fuck offs and go to hell..

I guess that is all part and parcel of having to move forward.

I guess I have grown a little.. maybe mature a little.. something inevitable.. the next 5-8 months will be mentally and financially taxing on our already stretched budget. I hope to run shifts soon so we can get back into our comfort zone and have more stability.

But I am blessed with a great wife in Ngoi who I know will support me when the chips are down. She is someone independent, resolute and enduring. I can see all that potential unveiling and coming to full circle since I met her 6 years ago. Someone of much constructive criticism towards me for example... "Babe, you have no.1 a sleep disorder, no.2 an eating disorder, no.3 mild dyslexia, no.4 a bipolar disorder, no.5 slur and mumble far too much and lastly I think you're "emotionally stunted" due to your parents divorce.

Can't say she's all wrong there now can I?

Who knows me best besides God and Mum? Look no further than the person I sleep with in bed.

Theres a whole new horizon rising..

and I thank you all for the prayers and well wishes.

I thank the Almighty above for elucidating all the questions that I have asked in a form that I would never expect.

I've once asked the ranger what it all meant but my question was answered by silence and a rock-star-nail-bomb face worthy of a Tat Sing slipar slap...but thankyoouss anyways.

What's cooking..Abg Man & Aien's Wedding and Misc

Last week we went prawning with Erny, Roz, Ogy and Ladly at the usual place in Bishan. I brought the prawns home so we can conjure up a dish for everyone. Fresh water prawns best stir fried of course with garlic.

Look yummy??

I fried the prawns around noon and cooked tomato rice in the early evening and managed to watch Percy Jackson in between.. heh heh heh.

Taa daa!!

Ngoi came home with Sheemamah to prepare the asparagus wrapped with black peppered shabu2 and cheese.

We kinda woke up late due to watching Glee all night long.
So we crashed Abg Man's wedding ceremony at Hougang instead of Aien...

It's hard not to get overly obsessive over things you have ownership of.

I guess that explains why both Yea and I are so into our crib now.

Even after a gruelling day at work, we just can't help but do a chore or two when we're back at home now.

The drive to and fro from work and home now is an additional painful 10km. During the first week, couple of times I made the wrong exit via Mandai Road thinking I was still going back to Ang Mo Kio.

The plus side is I get to think and reflect more on the longer drive home.

Might as well make that petrol burn for a far more rewarding intangible purpose other than getting me from one point to another right? As long as I don't sleep behind the wheel.

Ngoi thought I'd wail on the first night in Sengkang like she did when she first moved in to Ang Mo Kio. Ha ha..."I miss Mama and Ayah".. Boo hoo hoo..

But we're basking now in the new found freedom and slowly we are developing our own culture and system of living.

Minimal, Practical, Comfortable and Efficient.

I've always thought that waking up would be a feat for me since I'm so used to snoozing the alarm clock thinking Mum would wake me up with her intolerable and constant nagging. But proud to say I have proved myself otherwise. Some days I even wake up earlier than usual.

I also have this impression that I would slack off at my own house knowing for a fact that I'd leave my old room in a state comparable to a pig sty or "Kandang Babi"(Mama loves saying that).

Fortunately I'm quite anal about cleanliness and ditto for Ngoi too.

Now this girl cleans the toilet almost everyday now... waste my water.. tsk tsk..

Well, we are still adapting around our home. Still figuring out what goes where and how to go about doing chores. No worries, its all growing on us slowly.

Its a new form of living. A step towards continuous improvement.

Can't say it'll work 100% but we're trying and we'll get there for sure.. and when you get there, the kids will screw that system up for you..

Did I just say kids? Ha ha ha..

A way to end the work week was to have a few friends over for dinner especially when it was Cynthia's idea to thrash our kitchen. Finally gave us a reason to use the oven anyway.

Ok so he's the dedicated blogger & I'm the lazy one,

but I guess I better put this in writing before the moment slips by.

Yea and I may have been together for more than 5 years,

but in this past week, I've learnt so many new things about him.

I guess it's true what the parents say;

you learn something new about your spouse each day, even after 35 years of marriage.

And there is so much more to learn when you live together!

Ok so Yea doesn't have the best of personal hygiene.

I mean come on,

he doesn't see the need to shower before going out,

washes his hair only every few days,

ditto with brushing his teeth...

but somehow manages to smell like a baby!!??!

He can't multi-task especially when the xbox is on,

pisses the hell out of me with his proposal to install a TV in our room etc.

But on top of it all, he is ever so considerate and thoughtful,

and he displays it in his little, quiet ways as usual

e.g. doing the laundry in the sly while I'm at work,

sweeping/mopping/vacuuming the floors,

helping me clean up the kitchen after I cook,

arranging my shoes for me in 1/3 of our shoe cabinet while he takes up the remaining 2/3 etc.

So I wanna take this opportunity to say thank you to Yea for being the awesome hubby that he is!

But on a separate issue, I need a new job. Hmmm....

We started moving about noon yesterday and I'm glad that most of my belongings are already in Sengkang.
Can't say the same for Ngoi though because her stuff are still stored somewhere in Toa Payoh.
Managed to get a van thanks to Mr.Elias aka Kongo who also helped out with the moving.

Apart from Elias, there was also Ladly and Ogy Gigolo who was joined later by Erny, Ezan and Wizard of Roz. Even my Dad and Joey managed to make an appearance in the late afternoon.

Within the next few weeks we hope to inject the house with life and eventually turn it into a home.

Mama said we need to have more company thus filling and imprinting some human essence and spirit into the house.

A conundrum yet to be unraveled but in short, most people will opine it as 'Aura'.

Basically, it is in our desire to build fond memories within this coloured slabs of concrete which is an immense importance to our living betterment.

We had our first unofficial group meal, did a little cleaning whilst listening to some happy tunes from a CD that was burned approximately a decade ago by a girl name Gail.

It has been a long and tiring day which will continue later in about 5 hours time where we will be anticipating the delivery of our fridge, washing machine and our bed. (which reminds us that we need to get some curtains and bed sheets in order for us to spend our first night there.)

Well, the downside is we won't have any cable Tv and internet connection. .

There will only be a mass activation for the vicinity next month or even as late as March.

So if you happen to be in the area, do drop by because we would love your company to compensate for the loss of mass media. Don't forget to buy snacks and drinks before you come too! Ha ha!

We're moving out in a few days time.. If all goes well, we'd be spending our first night on the 21st Jan 10.

The essentials like the kitchen stove, washing machine, fridge, bed and tv should be in place by then. Just need to wait out for the sofa, the air-con, the dining table, chairs and coffee table.

We also have volunteers to help us out in the moving out.. Compassvale, here we come!!

2009 whizzed past just like that. But I would say it was a good year all in all.

1) The family is healthy and happy

2) Yea and Ngoi are healthy and happy

3) Yea and Ngoi finally got married

4) Yea and Ngoi finally went to Boracay

5) Ngoi finally ran a marathon, and WILL run more marathons

6) Money has miraculously sufficed, making all big, necessary purchases possible

So my wish for 2010 is for all good things like those above to remain, and for all our loved ones to find happiness and fulfillment in life.

Now, let's see how that little resolution of mine (you know what) stays yah...I shall be positive about it and have faith that it will :D

death makes you think twice about life

I cried on the drive home from work last night after receiving news from my Mum that my babysitter's husband passed away. It didn't strike me at first because he looked healthy the last time I saw him during the last Hari Raya Puasa. He was jovial and lively. He could even afford to share jokes at the expense of his wife.

I will always remember him as the first man/dad to sign my report book.

My only regret was not visiting him often. The couple whom i affectionately call Mama and Bapak.

I was in no man's land when I went over their house last night and this morning. Everyone was asking who this boy is.."Oh, ni anak Kak Sal lelaki yang bongsu.." jokingly their youngest daughter replied. The thought of being called their youngest son made me ashamed for all the years that I disappeared. Things like "Oh, I'm busy with work, I'm busy with my own family" would not suffice as an acceptable excuse. I tried to hold back my tears feeling that I'm not entitled to mourn equally with those around him.. their sons, daughters and grandchildren.

In the hole, as I was lowering his feet into his final resting place..I thought to myself, when my turn will come. Will my family be ready for it when the time comes? I thought hard about all the questions pertaining about death, its after effects and repercussions. It made me think.

Before I left for home, Mama Sal asked me come over whenever I'm free. To come while there's still time.

I felt guilty having to hear those words from her. I hid my emotions by comforting her and saying God willing I will drop by whenever I can.

On the drive home, I thought again. I've been through a few deaths in my family.

Somehow this particular one made me realized that I had to make time. It made me think about all the people I cared about. The people who mattered. The people who are still alive.

Both friends and family.

Death will be my reflection for 2009. And life will go on as we know it.

Firstly, I renewed my car insurance with UOI. Maybe you guys can check out India Insurance for quotations too. I also had KK inspected at STA Sin Ming.Very fast and efficient I must say compared to my previous experiences with VICOM. So thats a total of about 1k spent. Arrghh!!

Guess tomorrow I'll renew the road tax too after work.

Chilled out at Ladly/Enok place and watched 2012.

Thank god we bought the dvd instead across the causeway.

Then we visited Dad and Mum and Bubbles too!!

And the official wedding photos by Ridz are also out.

And lastly, we miss our friends.. especially the people from the entourage.. boo hoo.

We have yet to meet anyone. We're so tied up with the wedding aftermath, the renovation, the furniture shopping and the family visits..and I'm sure you guys are pretty much tied up with your own holiday plans and wedding plans too..

But we will catch up soon.. we promise.

Today, we went to meet our lovely ID Kevin to discuss some reno stuff.

Progress is good and if we all goes well,
We should be moving in by the 3rd week of next month.

We also went to buy lighting for the entire house..
Actual total cost was about $1,500,
But of course yours truly managed to sweet talk her way down to $1k flat...
Maaan...I'm getting real good at this.

Also got our hob, hood and oven to build into the kitchen cabinets.
Because I'm a forum stalker,
I knew exactly what I was looking for..THESE from Rinnai!

Thank you guys for making it yet another memorable ICT.

Looking forward to next year!! 13th to 18th Dec 10.

Haizu as usual always doing all the work for everyone.. One day he will run his own battalion.

Finally cleared my IPPT during in camp.. Ngoi won't be proud of my running though.

Well, comparing to last year's results, I think it is a clear sign that I am getting older.

This boots are made for walking...

i just hope we will walk less next year.

My virgin marathon

So it's been 2 days since the marathon.
The legs unfortunately, have not recovered & even walking has become a challenge.
Nonetheless, it was one of the best experiences I've ever had & I would strongly urge everyone else to give it at least one try!
As many who have done it would say,
"When you cross the finish line, no matter how slow or fast, it will change your life forever."

I've been talking myself into doing it since a couple of years ago.
I guess it's the thrill of doing something crazy, something challenging.
And like many of my other life goals, I knew that once set, there were no excuses, no procrastination, no turning back.
And Leo/ Britney, for the record, the feeling is 1000 times better than when I said "I feel like a man!" beating most boys at 2.4km in school..heheh

To cut all 42.195km of the story short,
Though I didn't manage to go under 5hrs as planned, I had a good run generally.
Albeit having felt myself going crazy at the 35km mark.

And as cliché as it sounds, it really was mind over matter from that point on - I had to continuously talk to myself to keep on going when my body shut down.

Next up, a triathlon & at least one marathon a year – under 5 hours this time!

Its back to work for the both of us.

With our feet firmly on the ground, its a return to the serious side of life.

Too much sweets and chocolates is never a good thing.. that I attained as I grow older but wiser with age.(Or not)

As much as I would love to amble with altruism, I think I aspire to be a scrooge this upcoming months. Like Ngoi mentioned in

the previous entry, we have discovered that Yusof Ishak has decided to be a little coy with us. Ha ha. But Mama Sue in all her wisdom says that moolah will appear in its many forms.

And Ngoi is experiencing that now!!

The past couple of weeks, I've learned the definition of words like "broke" in depth and portraying facial expression like 'minta belas kasihan' with ease.

But on the bright side of life, I've benefited by learning the aptitude of appreciating those who had stood with me through hard times.

Hi guys!

So it's back to reality for both Yea & I. Truth be told, the wedding was so much fun that we even had thoughts of "renewing our vows" every year. Hehhh...

But reality check, we are both dead broke now what with the honeymoon and the new place. So if you're wondering why we are MIA, it's because Yea says we can only do budget activities now while we recoup our losses...haha. So pls do still invite us for anything cheap, or even better free!

Next big thing for me is the Stanchart marathon. My first ever 42.195km! Am I excited? Hell yeah. Am I prepared? Erm, probably not as much as I would have loved to, but I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to complete it in a decent time. So if you're not doing anything this Sun 6 Dec, pls come down and lend Ngoi your support!! Woo hoo!!

I woke up this morning wanting to puke. An amusement park inside my stomach with a roller coaster ride gone wrong. If there ever was a time that I wanted to puke this bad was 22 years ago, Essex Road, St Michael's School. I was 7 and going up on stage to receive my Language proficiency award. First time in front of a large audience..whats there not to loathe about?

Sigh.... those were the days where you definitely dun have to give a flying fuck about anything... Until you reach the age of 9, your parents get a divorce and it leaves you in shambles. Well...but then again.. hmmmm...I wouldn't want it any other way.

If there's one advice from Dad that I would heed it would have to be to do things in moderation. Knowing that heeding his advice would probably affect the swing of balance of my already unpredictable double-gaited diametric ataxia profile. I guess that is what probably saved my ass most of the time... Metaphorically, I'm the See Saw and Dad's advice is the fulcrum.. It would have never worked if one was without the other...

Mum was a more practical straight forward person. If she were to be a soccer player, I'd compare her to Denis Irwin.. No nonsense defender. She'd knock your socks right off without you knowing it. But she has mellowed down as the years pass by. And that is the huge difference between Sue and Tam. And that is how you genetically spawn one of me.

Its noon, and in approximately 22 hours my friend, I will be a married man.. a merry man..

And the same question keeps on popping in like are you excited? are you ready?

I'm scared shit..that i must admit.. and tomorrow I will definitely cry if don't puke...But whatever it is, It has come to this.. this junction where it is a life defining moment.. a milestone.. So if it happens to you, don't let anyone take that joy away from you.. My friends say I talk like a salesman sometimes.. trying to pitch in and make you buy something at the end of the day.. Hey, if it works for you... I say you just go for it!

Initially It would hit me like once a month that I'm getting hitched soon..

Well last night at work it hit me more than 3 times like a big bad ass truck and the "Wedding" is the metaphorical driver.

Like Ngoi, my friends too have been asking the same question.. "Are you excited??"

Too be honest it is starting to kick in albeit hidden under the shroud of anxiety that encompasses almost every other known feeling within me... but its kicking in, thats a good sign.

Anyway we've had our balance of ups and downs this past 5 years.. And like any other normal couple, we have gone through a series of break ups too but no longer than 72 hours.

Bet you didn't know that huh?!

This marriage we yearn amidst the complications, hope and faith finally put us here on a pedestal.

This wedding will be the alpha, the basis of a new lease of life that awaits us.

As I saunter through the final days of single hood, I am looking forward to that new fount.

And I guess on that big day, that makes Ngoi my sui generis.

Anyways....

I thank all that have cross path our lives in one way or another.

"So are you anxious?" - or something to that tune..
Truth of the matter is I'm not, and I found it strange at first.
But as I thought about it, I realised why.
It's because I know Yea's the one that I wanna spend the rest of my life with.
In fact, I've always known, as early as within the first six months of our relationship.

I know Yea feels the same too.
But I now also understand the anxiety he feels,
For that responsibility that lies ahead as a husband,
Which my dad is probably looking to pass on with much relief :D

We turned 5 yesterday...

Still remember how we first met at TP 8 years ago,
And how fate brought us together.

So Yea being his recently romantic self,
Decided to surprise me with a little cute wristlet as an anniversary gift.
I on the other hand, am too broke to get him anything.
Sorry babe, postpone k?
But of course you will always have my undying love..priceless ok.

In just over a month, we will be husband & wife.
I'm anxious, but excited.
I do want to be a good wife to Yea and a great mommy to our kids.
Most importantly, I hope the union will bring us even closer to God.
We'll do just fine yes? :)

Headed to the post office to get the package from karmaloop this morning approx 1130. Then I decided to go to borders to look for this book that a gila friend recommended. Said its a good light read.. Couldn't find it so I had to scoot over to Kinokuniya instead.. and even dropped by HMV to buy a Nirvana "Nevermind"(1991) cd and "The Color Purple" (1985) dvd... yes, these are my personal favourite vices besides Ehem and cigarettes..

Heading over to Shaz's house now.. going to hari raya in Paris this year!!
i mean tmr.. cant wait for all that food.. glorious food!!

and just a tip for the other women out there...

You probably know by know that it is quite simple for a woman to stimulate a man by appealing to his senses. A nice body under abeautiful dress will make his eyes not want to leave you. How strange that Yea decided to dedicate an entire blog entry to the wedding.

Well yes the preps are more or less done on our end,
Just need to finalise the gifts.

Unfortunately for me & fortunately for Yea,
We're not getting me a bicycle cos it will be too much of a challenge logistics-wise.
But will nevertheless have a tray of running gear! :)
In fact, already purchased a couple of running tops & this super cool sport-band,
In such a pretty colour!

How nice it would be to top it all off with a pair of pink lunaracers...
(yes, I lost the yellow pair Yea got for me for my birthday!)

Toiletries and make-up sets also settled so I can smell and look nice as Mrs Yea..

That aside, it's been said that we could get our house keys as early as next month!!
Now THAT is GREAT news isn't it?

So hope all goes well...just about 2 months left!
Meanwhile, Yea says he wants to date every girl in his FB.
Now where shall I start? Hmmm....

But first, congrats to the lovely pair who recently got hitched! :)

Everyone is asking the hot question now.. Except for my close friends who know very well that this question will induce the combination of my worst facial expression, that trademark "Huhhhh" that Ngoi has grown so accustomed to, the eye rolling... followed by a sudden loss of sight, shortness of breathe, nausea, sweating, diarrhea.... ok ok lah.. exaggerating lah.. Im sure you people get what I mean.. But coming from someone who suffers a mild bipolar disorder like me, its unpredictable.. Today is your lucky day... let me update you..

Just 2 months plus to go ok people and after Raya, time will even pass by faster.. faster than that line thats queueing at cash converter.

Basically most of it is tied down more or less i think..think... think who comfirmed?

I've already booked the ROMM online and all we need to do now is make a trip down 5 weeks before the nikah for the interview. The naib kadi will be Ustaz Hassan Salim and giving Ngoi away will be her own father.

The Nikah venue already tied down at Masjid Almutaqqin 10am 12th Nov and just need to remind the masjid a week before the solemnisation. Just need to sort out the small reception for that day and the schedule.

The wedding venue itself, the catering, the invites, the pelamin, the "Huey Louie and the news band", the "kompang" all taken care of by my wedding planner. Yar some of us can actually afford a wedding planner...
which is in this case is non other than my Mum who doesnt even ask for the minimum wage..

The wedding bands are already in Mum's drawers... the Mas Kahwin is already on Ngoi's finger..
The clothes for the nikah are in progress..at the tailor..over the causeway..
The invitation list for my side is more or less penned down, typed and saved as...just need a little fine tuning.

Now we're still kinda stuck at the wedding gifts.. I have no idea what I want...
but here is whats purchased so far.

Can u believe it? The frigggin guitar hero is here and I've to wait till bloody Nov to play it?

I want to congratulate our dear friend Linda for gathering enuff courage to finally change her hairstyle..
After years and years sporting long lovely locks.. she finally cut her way past shoulder hair to bob...

I won't know exactly how it feels like to have ur long hair cut short.. but it is for sure a big big step..a risk to take... and its hard to grow out your hair all over again.. its neither short nor long and it gets in your face and all over the place..

So Erline & I succeeded in our very first half marathon last weekend!
Despite it being our very first attempt, we aimed high (plan was to finish under 2 hrs).
We didn't quite make the mark but maybe next year?? :D

Next in line is the Phuket marathon early next year if not our very own stanchart.
And then triathlon, ironman......and THEN little yeas and ngois :D

Must say i enjoy eating breakfast at the kopitiams.. its like a totally different world.. i sit with the apeks who dun mind sharing their tables as long u mind ur own business.. very serene and peaceful..

So I've been extremely tied up.
But here's a quick recap of what's been up lately:

1) The A/Y/G

I had a blast over the course of the Games.
Hosting the ppl of Kyrgyz was such a joy,
And my counterparts were the coolest bunch ever!
Can't wait for the next stint in 2010! :)

2) Crab Buffet

2 buffets in 2 weeks was no joke.
Yea and I must have put on at least 2kg if not more..eeeks!
The crab buffet at Swissotel Merchant Court was pretty good.
But swear I've never seen so much people at a buffet before!!
Photos were taken in between breaks and during dessert,
So no crab photos..oops!

3) Pulau Ubin

I really enjoyed this, thanks Haizu!
From the exclusive boat ride,
To the fab lunch, all that climbing,
Canoeing, swimming...
I still can't believe how organised and thoughtful this guy is!
No wonder Yea adores you so much Haizu..heheh
